rebotics developementROBOTICS

“A reprogrammable, multifunctional manipulator designed to move material, parts, tools, or specialized devices through various programmed motions for the performance of a variety of tasks”

A future full of helpful robots, quietly going about their business and assisting humans in thousands of small ways, is one of technology’s most long-deferred promises. Only recently have robots started to achieve the kind of sophistication and ubiquity that computing’s pioneers originally envisioned. The military has hundreds of UAVs blanketing the skies above Iraq and Afghanistan, and Roombas are vacuuming living rooms across the country.

Robots recently became a popular tool in raising interests in computing for middle and high school students. First year computer science courses at several universities were developed which involves the programming of a robot instead of the traditional software engineering based coursework.

google celebrates the Makar Sankranti and the new Google Doodle is showing 7 Kites with Google written on it. Makar Sankranti marks the transition of the Sun into Makara rashi (Capricorn) on its celestial path.

Makar Sankranti is an important Hindu festival celebrated with religious fervor in almost all parts of India. The festival is celebrated to mark the beginning of the bountiful harvest season after few months of chilly winter. It falls on January 14, every year, as per the Solar calendar. Both geographic and religious significance are associated with the festival. On the day, Sun begins to travel northwards, by leaving the Tropic of Cancer in order to enter the Tropic of Capricorn (corresponding to the zodiac sign ‘Makar’ meaning Capricorn). The traditions observed during the festival are different according to different regions of India. Read on to get information about the rituals of Makar Sankranti.

CCNP Training Chandigarh

CCNP Certification

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP®) validates knowledge and skills required to install, configure and troubleshoot converged local and wide area networks with 100 to 500 or more nodes. With a CCNP certification, a network professional demonstrates the knowledge and skills required to manage the routers and switches that form the network core, as well as edge applications that integrate voice, wireless, and security into the network. The CCNP curriculum includes building scalable Cisco networks, Cisco multilayer switched networks, securing converged wide area networks, and optimizing converged networks.

Cisco’s CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) is an intermediate-level certification for IT professionals who can “install, configure, and troubleshoot local and wide area networks for enterprise organizations with networks from 100 to more than 500 nodes.” The CCNP Certification has as its prerequisite the CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), and covers content such as: “security, converged networks, quality of service (QoS), virtual private networks (VPN) and broadband technologies.”

There is a four exam, three exam and two exam path to the CCNP. The CCNP is valid for three years. To recertify, the candidate must pass the Composite exam. “Recertifying at the Professional level automatically renews the related CCNA certification.”

Job roles of those pursuing this certification generally include: network administrator, LAN administrator, and network infrastructure administrator.

WHY TO USE PIC MICROCONTROLLER FOR THE PROJECTS ?

0

PIC Microcontrollers are quickly replacing computers when it comes to programming robotic devices. These microcontrollers are small and can be programmed to carry out a number of tasks and are ideal for school and industrial projects. A simple program is written using a computer, it is then downloaded to a microcontroller which in turn can control a robotic device. Click on the sections below to view a detailed explanation.

PIC is a family of Harvard architecture microcontrollers made by Microchip Technology, derived from the PIC1640 originally developed by General Instrument’s Microelectronics Division. The name PIC initially referred to “Peripheral Interface Controller”.

PICs are popular with both industrial developers and hobbyists alike due to their low cost, wide availability, large user base, extensive collection of application notes, availability of low cost or free development tools, and serial programming (and re-programming with flash memory) capability.

pic

Core architecture

The PIC architecture is characterized by its multiple attributes:

Separate code and data spaces (Harvard architecture) for devices other than PIC32, which has a Von Neumann architecture.

A small number of fixed length instructions

Most instructions are single cycle execution (2 clock cycles), with one delay cycle on branches and skips

One accumulator (W0), the use of which (as source operand) is implied (i.e. is not encoded in the opcode)

All RAM locations function as registers as both source and/or destination of math and other functions.[2]

A hardware stack for storing return addresses

A fairly small amount of addressable data space (typically 256 bytes), extended through banking

Data space mapped CPU, port, and peripheral registers

The program counter is also mapped into the data space and writable (this is used to implement indirect jumps).

This powerful (200 nanosecond instruction execution) yet easy-to-program (only 35 single word instructions) CMOS FLASH-based 8-bit microcontroller packs Microchip’s powerful PIC® architecture into 28-pin package and is upwards compatible with the PIC16C5X, PIC12CXXX and PIC16C7X devices. The PIC16F73 features 5 channels of 8-bit Analog-to-Digital (A/D) converter with 2 additional timers, 2 capture/compare/PWM functions and the synchronous serial port can be configured as either 3-wire Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI™) or the 2-wire Inter-Integrated Circuit (I²C™) bus and a Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter (USART). All of these features make it ideal for more advanced level A/D applications in automotive, industrial, appliances and consumer applications.

There is no distinction between memory space and register space because the RAM serves the job of both memory and registers, and the RAM is usually just referred to as the register file or simply as the registers.

pic board

PIC microcontrollers ( Programmable Interface Controllers), are electronic circuits that can be programmed to carry out a vast range of tasks. They can be programmed to be timers or to control a production line and much more. They are found in most electronic devices such as alarm systems, computer control systems, phones, in fact almost any electronic device. Many types of PIC microcontrollers exist, although the best are probably found in the GENIE range of programmable microcontrollers. These are programmed and simulated by Circuit Wizard software.

What is CCNA?

But what really is CCNA? CCNA is a beginning-level program that aims to certify a solid foundation in Cisco networking. Cisco’s certification programs are about certifying the competence of Internetworking professionals in routing, switching and connectivity. CCNA requires passing only one written exam (#640-607). Once this certification has been obtained, it can be a stopping point, as you’ve become qualified in Routing and Switching (valid for three years), or can be a starting point for a Professional-level certification.

Let us look into CCNA in more detail:
The objectives for CCNA can be divided into eight categories. You are expected to master all the categories:
OSI Model
Bridging/Switching;
Network Protocols;
Routing;
WAN Protocols;
Network Management;
LAN Design;
Cisco Basics, IOS & Network Basics.

Let us briefly look at what you are expected to know in each category.

OSI Model
The OSI model was created by the ISO (International Standards Organization) for the purpose of creating a networking standard all vendors could adhere to. The presence of a standard makes it possible for vendors using different operating systems to communicate on the same network.
OSI uses layered communication. A mnemonic used to memorize the order of the layers is “All People Seem To Need Data Processing”. A solid understanding of this model is required. The layers are: Application, Presentation, Session, Transport, Network, Data link and Physical.

Bridging/Switching
What are bridges? What are switches? You should be able to explain the difference between a bridge and a switch. And you must also know the difference between the methods of switching. What are VLANs? How does the Spanning Tree Protocol work?

Network Protocols
You need to understand the key differences among network protocols, primarily TCP/IP and SPX/IPX. Understand the functions of individual segments of each protocol as well as the addressing scheme used by each networking protocol and have a general understanding of protocol services and access lists

Routing Protocols
What is a routing protocol? What is it designed for? You should know about RIP and IGRP. Understand the different types of routing protocols. This also involves knowing their differences.

WAN Protocols
In this category, CCNA professionals are expected to know how to configure ISDN and frame relay connections. You should also understand ATM, HDLC and other technologies.

Network Management
What are DNS and Telnet used for? Do you know the commands specific to troubleshooting for each of the WAN, LAN, and routing protocols? This may involve simulation or actual basic day-to-day usage of Cisco equipment.

LAN Design
You need to know about the various LAN types (Ethernet, Fast-Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, and Token Ring). What are their features and benefits? Your network troubleshooting skills are also important.

Cisco Basics, IOS and Network Basics
